Hello Guys:)
I've got an extra task for you, for extra points.
Have you heard of PechaKucha ???
I took part in such an event the previous week.
Your task is to check what it is and present your point of view.Give links to interesting sites that present it. What do you think of this new trend? I liked it a lot?
Have Fun!

I've never heard of it, but Google helped me:)
ReplyDeletewww.pecha-kucha.org - few examples and lots of information about PechaKucha.
I think it's an interesting way to give a presentation. You can show lots of people around the world your work or what you're into, can be fun, but it's nothing special. I mean, only a format 20x20 is something new - it's still just a presentation.
Good to know that there is something like this.
Good afternoon,
ReplyDeleteI must say that I never heard about PechaKucha before either but as person above, I helped myself a bit with internet.
I found a short description of it here:
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pecha_Kucha
In general, I agree its still just a presentation, in a sense some people could say its even less because of its lenght and inability to present more complicated concepts.
Thats how I see it at least. It seems that if one wanted to present something complex such presentation could prove to be not enough.
BUT, for showing the main point of some bigger idea, introducing it to the viewers and encouraging to check it out further, this way of presenting has a lot of potential with no doubts.
So even if I dont consider it as stand alone tool it would be a great introduction for proper presentations if someone decided to use it for such purpose.
End of Transmission
After having seen it I have to say that this is a way of introducing yourself to a mass audience.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, it cannot be too long because the people would get bored quite easily and thirdly there are many presentations. Anyway, everyone can go online afterwords and see in depth the things he or she is interested in. Lots of fun, good beer;)
There is one more thing you do not know about it, there is an obligatory beer break;)
I never heard of PechaKucha and first I though you're talking about some kind of pokemon :) And at least I guessed right that it's from Japan. It seems to be a quite cool way for certain presentations. As for now I tried to watch some Pecha kuchas on you tube but most of them seem pretty boring :P I guess it's not a magical wand that would automaticly make your presentation good and you still have to at try harder to make it interesting.
ReplyDeleteHere're some exampels:

I love the idea of this kind of presentation. There's not too many people with skill of clear and concrete speech. Sometimes I feel like people are abusing time (very precious thing nowadays) of others, because they are too talkative and can't get to the point. Pecha Kucha forces everybody to find and show the most important issues of a chosen subject.
ReplyDeleteBut again, its hard to apply it in all cases. Sometimes you do have to ramble a bit to explain something properly.
ReplyDeleteShowing main points is one thing but it will most likely not be enough to deal with everything you have to deal while presenting.
I suppose thats the whole idea of it though, to show main points, so my complaints may not be adequate.
I have never heard before about such technique makeing presentations. And I think it`a pity, because it amazed me, if I know about it before, I colud use it for example for presentations at university which happens sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion it`s powerful way to present something, because it is short, condensed, and provides many informations. A lot of presentations I have seen was boring, but in PechaKucha it is very difficult to be boring.
But I see some disadvantages, it could be difficult to make such type of presentation, it requires to be prepared, but more prepared than usual presentation, you can`t improvise, you must to prepare each sentence to fit each slide for 20seconds.
