I'm writing about the movie titled "The Proposal". I saw this movie twice.
ReplyDeleteThe story is about a authoritarian boss Margaret, who has to face deportation to her native Canada. She rapidly declared that she is engaged to her assistant. In the beginning he couldn't suspect anything, but at least he agrees to participate in the conspiracy. So they pretend that they are couple and they should convince an immigration official that they really are...
Here is a link to the trailer:

Yesterday I finished reading "The memoirs of a Red Army officer" written by Sergiusz Piasecki. It's a bitter view for World War II observed by imaginary Soviet soldier. The book has a form of diary dedicated to Stalin, Hitler or even Churchil depending on who had the biggest chance to win war at actual moment. A lot of fun and interesting perspective :-) By the way, Sergiusz Piasecki was a really amazing person and his other books are also remarkable.
ReplyDeleteWell....you asked for it :D I'm thinking of making my whole presentation abour B-movies, horror, off cinema and movie-plotaion overall so now I can get you a sneak peak. The picture I'll be talking about is actually a mainstream horror movie. After watching "Paranormal Activity" I remembered a certain milestone in a horror movie history. The film I'm talking about is called: The "Blair witch project" and it was like a breath of fresh air in horror genre dominated by "not so scary" slasher movies (Although I like those, the're not scary at all :) ). And that is where Blair witch triumphed. For those that don't know. "Blair Witch project" was a 99' American horror mocumentary ( a film that is fictional but pretend to be a documentary) which started a new trend. It pretended to be "the actual recovered tapes" from a group of missing student whom investigated legend of the infamous witch. They went to the woods and never come back, later only a recorded VHS tape was found which held the gruesome true... I won't spoil it, although I already did. Because you know it's not real. But even when you know it's all fake, you still can feel fear. The whole movie is filmed by a hand cam in a real "family vacation" way and that's why when the money shot comes it's so surprising and so well played that you literally s*it your pants! A brilliant movie, one in it's kind because the formula, like an old joke, was exploited to the full and in my opinion can't be used again...
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI think I wrote here once, but where is my post?

My favourite book is Hopschotch (Rayuela) by Argentine author Julio Cortázar.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is the best book of all time. It is timeless and universal. Cortazar plays with words to the reader. Everyone understands it in its own way, and no interpretation will be erroneous. The book can be read by a key created by the author, or invent your own.
"Only by living absurdly can break out of this infinite absurdity."

ReplyDeleteI want to write about movie I have seen last week: 2012.
Director Roland Emmerich used to destroy world in every possible way in his movies. Giant lizard trying to destroy New Yourk City in Godzilla, destruction of the White House in Independence Day or flooding of Earth in The Day After Tomorrow. 2012 is not exception.
The events in the film are based on Mayan doomsday prophecy that the world ends in 2012. The movie starts with a flashback three years earlier when, like in other catastrophe movies, someone predict the worst. Then spectator land at the titular year, and things start to go very bad: sea levels rise, earthquakes appear, volcanos erupt, greatest cities collapse. Most of the time we follow Jackson Curtis - main character, who drives a limo for a Russian tycoon. He and his family try to flee and evade disaster.
The movie is over two and a half hours long. It is maybe too long. To be honest I don't get to like this movie. It is a disaster movie that doesn't try to be anything more than just that. The actors aren't bad, but they are just filling time before the next special effect.
Right. The movie I would like to shortly tell about is....
ReplyDelete"Cloudy with a chance of meatballs!"
This is a fairly new animated movie, kind of like Shrek or Kung Fu Panda, at least technology wise.
In generall it is about a boy called Flint whos dream is to become a known, admired (and loved) scientist.
There is just one problem. Whatever he invents turns to be a complete disaster. Some examples of his inventions are :
-Unbalder!
-Shoes in Spray
-TV with legs
and many more strange stuff. Now his chain of unlucky inventions continues untill one day he manages to invent a machine that turns water into food!
After certain incident machine is shot into the air and since then very very interesting weather can be observed in the area of his hometown! Im sure you can imagine what is that.
I will not spoil the surprise entirely, instead I will just give you an advice. If you decide to watch it, get something to eat first! Or you will have to pause the movie.
Now when it comes to my judgement. I think its a fairly nice thing to watch, pretty funny, well animated and original. Yet in the end it lacks a bit to catch up to productions such as Shrek or Kung Fu Panda which I mentioned earlier.
Still, I reccomend it to anyone who enjoys animated movies.
Oh and by the way, one of characters is voiced by Mr T!
I can recommend a movie of polish production" "Wszystko, co kocham". That's a movie directed by Jacek Borcuch and beautifully shot in Puck and Hel by Michał Englert.
ReplyDeleteI liked the connection of two stories, personal (love problems of main actor) and our national (times of war state in '81). It perfectly shows confrontation of individual idealistic view with realism of brutal life.
I'm glad to see that direction in polish movie production. It has started from "Rewers", than "Dom zły" and "Wszystko, co kocham". I cannot wait for more:)
